Wood stove catalytic converter
A wood burner catalytic converter is a device to reduce pollution from the burning of wood. It works by using a catalytic coating to promote the oxidation of certain types of pollutants such as carbon monoxide and organic gaseous compounds into harmless carbon dioxide and water.
The catalytic converter can either be incorporated in the wood burner itself, or in the flue pipe directly above it.
As well as reducing pollution, catalytic converters release additional heat from the exothermic reactions which they promote, and also reduce the build-up of creosote in the chimney.
